Questions on how we spend our money & our time - consumer goods and services, trang chủ and vehicle, leisure & recreational activities
many years ago i told myself that once the clutch starts slipping, that"s when i would trade it in for a new car. Then the pandemic happened & the oto market is completely bonkers.the fact that it has a clutch at all probably tells you a lot about me and the car. While i"m not a oto enthusiast that takes the oto to the track, i vày enjoy driving. Và i"ve definitely already "paid lớn play" for this car. I bought it used at 70k miles. Previous owner probably beat the **** outta it because within 5k miles i had khổng lồ replace the engine. Since then, i"ve been meticulous maintaining it. It"s got 140k miles now.for a car born in 2011, it"s still in excellent condition; even the leather in the driver"s seat barely shows any wear và tear. Paint is still good, no rust. Tons of paint chips in the front from highway driving but that"s lớn be expected. Mechanically it"s solid since i"ve literally fixed/replaced everything. Doesn"t burn oil. Great MPG.the stock clutch slipping was a foregone conclusion because i tuned it. Now that it"s time lớn replace it with a performance clutch rated to handle the power, i have the option to either get this done for ~$3k parts+labor, or, according to carfax, trade-in for $4k / private sale for $7k.and therein lies the problem....

i really enjoy this car, and i absolutely wouldn"t mind owning the current generation of the same model. I"d get all the shiny new stuff; backup camera, blind spot detection, lane guidance, android/carplay, etc. 2nd time around i"d probably go automatic, although i wonder if i would miss driving stick once it"s gone... DW wants an SUV, so trade for that. While i acknowledge that it would make parts of our life easier, our existing car already got us past the stroller phase for our kids so it"s not like we need the extra space anymore. I would definitely miss my car, và would find driving an appliance dull và boring. the oto has depreciated so much it doesn"t make sense to trade-in/sell when it"s still solid. Put in the new clutch. & if the car still drives after 3-5 months i"m already ahead financially vs monthly payments of a new car. get the SUV và keep the car. This way i don"t have khổng lồ replace the clutch immediately, và can take my time since it won"t be the daily anymore. We don"t have to lớn play tetris anymore when we go to costco. And having 2 cars can be useful sometimes when we need lớn be 2 places at once.----since this is a personal finance forum, i"ll pre-emptively answer the question that yes, i can afford it. I"d be spending less than even the most conservative oto payment to income ratio guidelines. But lượt thích a lot of personal finance things, this is emotional. And i"m struggling with the above options and currently going through analysis paralysis.Re: Fix old car, replace old car, or địa chỉ cửa hàng a 2nd one? Postby Wwwdotcom » Sun May 14, 2023 10:58 am
If I were not constrained for cash, the decision would be easy.Get the SUV and keep the car for a 5 or 6 months. If the car is never getting used, then sell it. I would probably get the clutch fixed no matter what. Even if you decide khổng lồ sell it having a bad clutch will make it hard sell it for a good price for it. Does the oto have Electronic Stability Control(ESC) ?. That is a very important safety feature so that if it does not have ESC then to me that would tend khổng lồ favor letting it go but that is just me.How long until your kids will be leaning to drive? Somewhere in your plans it would be good to lớn consider having a car that is appropriate for them lớn learn lớn drive in when they reach that age. bling wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 10:41 amsince this is a personal finance forum, i"ll pre-emptively answer the question that yes, i can afford it. I"d be spending less than even the most conservative oto payment to income ratio guidelines. The most conservative car payment guideline is to lớn pay cash for your cars. I don"t know what the right solution is for you but if you need lớn get a car loan I would want to lớn keep that as low as possible. If you are deciding between something lượt thích a new BMW và a $60K SUV then it might be worth considering a different alternative. There is an ongoing joke here that when it comes lớn cars the right Boglehead answer is always either a Corolla or Miata. Re: Fix old car, replace old car, or địa chỉ a 2nd one? Given what you wrote, I"d go with D. After that, if your present car isn"t getting much use, I"d sell it.I drove exclusively manuals until 2003--at that point I wanted lớn be able to use a cell phone (yeah, I know) và drink more coffee while I was driving. I missed the manual a lot at first, but I adjusted và now am glad I don"t have lớn fool with it in thành phố driving. After 20 years of driving boring cars, I got a fun oto (still tự động though) & going on nine years now it may very well be my final car at the rate it"s holdilng up. I drive DW"s SUV quite a bit, but we"re both happy to lớn hop into my car every chance we get.I"m fairly confident in saying that if you get rid of your car at this point, you"ll regret it. Get a second oto that suits your family"s needs. If it doesn"t give you the enjoyment you seek, you"ll be glad you"re a two-car family.Xem thêm: Hộp 6 tổ yến sào like nest đông trùng hạ thảo like nest, yến sào like nest

Read the following passage & mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet lớn indicate the correct answer to each of the questions.
In the West, cartoons are used chiefly lớn make people laugh. The important feature of all these cartoons is the joke & the element of surprise which is contained. Even though it is very funny, a good cartoon is always based on close observation of a particular feature of life & usually has a serious purpose.
Cartoons in the West have been associated with political and social matters for many years. In wartime, for example, they proved khổng lồ be an excellent way of spreading propaganda. Nowadays cartoons are often used to lớn make short, sharp comments on politics & governments as well as on a variety of social matters. In this way, the modern cartoon has become a very powerful force in influencing people in Europe and the United States.
Unlike most American và European cartoons, however, many Chinese cartoon drawings in the past have also attempted khổng lồ educate people, especially those who could not read & write. Such cartoons about the lives và sayings of great men in trung quốc have proved extremely useful in bringing education to illiterate và semi-literate people throughout China. Confucius, Mencius & Laozi have all appeared in very interesting stories presented in the form of cartoons. The cartoons themselves have thus served to lớn illustrate the teachings of the Chinese sages in a very attractive way.
In this sense, many Chinese cartoons are different from Western cartoons in so far as they do not depend chiefly on telling jokes. Often, there is nothing to laugh at when you see Chinese cartoons. This is not their primary aim. In addition khổng lồ commenting on serious political and social matters, Chinese cartoons have aimed at spreading the traditional Chinese thoughts và culture as widely as possible among the people.
Today, however, Chinese cartoons have an added part lớn play in spreading knowledge. They offer a very attractive & useful way of reaching people throughout the world, regardless of the particular country in which they live. Thus, through cartoons, the thoughts and teachings of the old Chinese philosophers & sages can now reach people who live in such countries as Britain, France, America, Japan, Malaysia or nước australia and who are unfamiliar with the Chinese culture.
Until recently, the transfer of knowledge & culture has been overwhelmingly from the West khổng lồ the East & not vice versa. By means of cartoons, however, publishing companies in Taiwan, Hong Kong và Singapore are now having success in correcting thisimbalance between the East and the West.
Cartoons can overcome language barriers in all foreign countries. The vast increase in the popularity of these cartoons serves lớn illustrate the truth of Confucius’s famous saying “One picture is worth a thousand words.”
